Charlotte 12, Durham 7

John Jaso went off for 6 RBIs, but Jeff Niemann got beat up for the second straight start as the Bulls dropped one to Charlotte.

West Tennessee 6, Montgomery 5

Chris Nowak had 3 hits and a home run, while Rhyne Hughes, James Hall, and Rashard Eldridge all had 2 hits apiece. Jeremy Hellickson pitched 6 solid innings, but the bullpen led by Eduardo Morlan couldn’t hold on.

St. Lucie 5, Vero Beach 3

Ryan Morse gave up 11 hits and 4 runs in 6 innings of work, and 3 hits from Hector Gimenez weren’t enough for the V-Rays to take down St. Lucie.

Columbus 9, Asheville 2

Gregory Sexton’s 4th-inning grand slam paced the Catfish offense, while Jeremy Hall gave up just 2 hits in 5 innings of work, striking out 7.

Hudson Valley 6, Aberdeen 4

Shane Dyer gave up just 1 hit in 6 innings of work, and the Renegades got 3 RBI from Jason Corder in the win.

Buffalo 12, Durham 2

All you really need to know is that Mike DiFelice - yes, THAT Mike DiFelice - pitched the final inning for the Bulls as they were tattooed by Buffalo. Heath Phillips walked 4 in 2 2/3 innings and Nick DeBarr walked 3 in 2. Elliot Johnson played left field and hit a home run; Chris Richard and Ben Zobrist each had 2 hits.

Montgomery 9, Huntsville 8

Rashard Eldridge had 3 hits to lead the Biscuits’ attack as they survived 4 errors (2 each by Gabriel Martinez and Sergio Pedroza) and 5 unearned runs to pick up the 9-8 win. Rocco Baldelli did not play in the game.

Daytona 7, Vero Beach 2

The V-Rays managed just 5 hits off of Daytona pitching while Brandon Mann threw 3 wild pitches in just over 4 innings of work in the loss. Joseph Callender was the lone bright spot for Vero, delivering 2 hits.

Columbus 6, Augusta 5

Alexander Cobb was on his game last night, tossing 5 2/3 innings of 3-hit, 9-strikeout ball for the Catfish. Gregory Sexton continued his hot hitting with 3 hits and 3 RBI (including a home run), while Stephen Vogt and Mike McCormick each went yard as well. All 9 Columbus starters had at least one hit.

Tri-City 17, Hudson Valley 9

Frank De Los Santos allowed 10 runs (7 earned) on 11 hits in just 3 innings, and it didn’t get much better after that as the Renegades were destroyed by Tri-City. Anthony Scelfo and John Mollicone each had 3 hits. The “other” Beckham - Jeremy - went 0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts.

Princeton 10, Johnson City 6

Tim Beckham was finally back on the field for the P-Rays, and all he did was deliver 4 hits in 5 at bats with a pair of doubles. Scott’s new favorite prospect, Turd Fergus… er, I mean, Burt Reynolds, had 3 RBI, and Brian Bryles laced 3 hits. James Bagley closed out the win with 2 innings of 5-strikeout ball.
