Everyone has been suggested for throwing out the pitch for the first home game. Hulk Hogan, Dick Vitale amongst many candidates. So for this Thursday’s edition of The Rays Of Light Virtual Water Cooler, I ask my fellow readers, who should throw out the first pitch for the Rays first EVER ALDS Home game?

A real hero from MacDill. There are plenty of guys over there with real medals for real bravery — get one of them. And i don’t mean just ‘let’s feel sorry for this wounded guy’, or anything politcal.
There are many men (almost all men in special forces) who quietly go to war, come back, and go again without a word, and their job isn’t done yet.
i just went to the Padres at the Nationals and there were a lot of Padres fans there, mostly Navy and Marine who had been stationed in California. The Padres have shown their appreciation year in an year out, well before these wars started. maybe the Rays can develop good group of military fans who will move away and still be Rays fans in DC, or Texas, or California.

I think the #1 candidate for the first pitch should be Stu Sternberg. He’s the one we owe all of this to. Without him and his vision, we wouldn’t be able to be in the situation we are currently in. The old ownership had a plan, according to them, and they never delivered. Stu and the Crew delivered on all of their promises, and they have this franchise going in the right direction right now. He should give us the 1st toss.

I personallly think it should be one of the 11 year Season ticket holders that have been going to the trop every game for the 11 years and has suffered through the whole fiasco.
