Rays of Light

Here we go! It’s time for Shields up and for the Rays to get one step closer to the playoffs for the first time EVER in franchise history.

From Mlb.com:

Pitching matchup
TB: RHP James Shields (13-8, 3.50 ERA)
Shields earned his career-high 13th win of the season on Saturday at Yankee Stadium when he pitched eight scoreless innings and allowed just five hits, while walking none and striking out six. Shields is 1-1 with a 5.94 ERA in three career starts against the Twins, and he is 8-2 with a 2.33 ERA in 15 starts at Tropicana Field this season.

MIN: LHP Glen Perkins (12-4, 4.40 ERA)
Perkins will be looking to rebound from one of his worst starts of the season, going just three innings and allowing six earned runs on five hits. Fortunately for Perkins, his line didn’t matter, as the Twins had already put the game out of reach early on with a 12-run onslaught against the Orioles on Saturday night. The left-hander struggled with his control, leaving almost everything up in the zone and surrendering a three-run homer to Oscar Salazar in the third that effectively ended his night. Perkins has not faced the Rays this season.

So far on this homestand everyone of our so called aces Have had bad outings and had bad first innings. Well all but Sonny. Hitters and bull pen have come throught to save them. Tonite the hitters came through but the bull pen couldn’t save them. Hope Edwin tommorrow can reverse the trend. Hitters are hitting, need starters to start pitching and getting us though six.
