Durham 4, Louisville 3

Mitch Talbot silenced the Bats (get it? It’s a pun!) with 6 innings of 1-run, 9 strikeout ball last night. There was a Joel Guzman sighting as “Big Nasty” had 2 HR and all 4 RBI for the Bulls.

Montgomery 9, Huntsville 2

Some guy named David Price went 8 innings for the Biscuits and picked up hit 9th professional win…you don’t often see minor league hurlers allowed to go that deep into a game, could that be a sign that the Rays are considering calling him up to the big leagues soon? Gabriel Martinez and Rhyne Hughes had 3 RBI apiece. Rocco Baldelli got another hit and played the final 4 innings of the game in right field.

Vero Beach 2, Jupiter 0

Wade Townsend, Chris Kelly, and Michael Wlodarczyk each threw 3 shutout innings for the V-Rays, with M-Wol perfect for his trio. Christian Lopez and Matthew Fields each had 3 hits for Vero Beach.

Columbus

The Catfish were off on Monday

Hudson Valley 3, Aberdeen 2

Nick Barnese was great for 5 innings and the Renegade bullpen held the IronBirds to just a pair of unearned runs in its 4 innings of work to allow Hudson Valley to walk away with the win.

Princeton 6, Pulaski 4,

Burt Reynolds (yes, that’s really his name) had 3 RBI to lead the P-Rays. Juan Santana allowed 3 hits and a run, but he struck out 6 in just 2 2/3 innings.

Okay, he’s my new favorite minor leaguer… I just learned that he and I share the same birthday.

And look at Price, 8 innings? Only 2 runs, off of Homeruns, and 7 Ks.
