Not sure if this is actually good news or not based on how he’s thrown this year, but Al Reyes is set to rejoin the team today. (MLB.com)
He will be taking the spot vacated when Reid Brignac was sent back to the minors just prior to the break, leaving the Rays’ bench short-handed again.
Troy Percival’s next on the returns list. Who goes away? Gary Glover? Jason Hammel?

When Bartlett & Percy come back somtime this week, who goes? Glover the lover? and maybe put Floyd on DL? I would guess it will depend on how close they are with a trade. Could be some suprise.

I hadn’t heard that Floyd was hurt again. You can’t really just put a guy on the DL because you want to clear roster room; the team could face some serious penalties from MLB for doing that.

MLB would have to prove it- it happens all the time…
Glover should obviously get his pink slip though-

When Percy returns, I think the Rays will finally DFA Glover. He’ll probably make it through waivers, but we don’t need him anymore anyway. With the return of Bartlett, hopefully soon, I think the Rays will do the smart thing and DFA Gomes. It’s the move that makes the most sense right now. Barring a trade of some type, I think the Rays will do the smart thing. While Zobrist isn’t lighting the wold on fire, he’s not killing the team. He is a decent defender, and can pinch run when needed. Gomes really is dead weight right now-can’t hit or field, and running isn’t real great.

The Denver Post is reporting that we are interested in Clint Barmes and Willy Tavares from Colorado. I really don’t buy the Tavares rumor at all, though. He’s decent defensively, and a great speedster, but he’s awful offensively. Barmes makes sense because he would certainly be an upgrade over Zobrist as a utility infielder. No offense the BenZo, but Barmes is better. In my opinion, if we were going to go get a young CF, I think Denard Span of the Twins makes more sense. He’s better offensively, just as good defensively, and about as fast as Tavares. I know we don’t need a CF, but if the Rays are interested in one, the he gets my vote. The only reason why I think the Rays could be interested is that they feel the trade market for a corner OF is just too much in the asking price. Maybe they are possibly thinking of putting Upton in RF…who knows? All I know is I was caught off guard when I read about us possibly interested in a weak-hitting CF instead of somebody who could really help this team.

I have no insterst in either, Barmes is older, and this is as good as he can play- He is Brendan Harris Jr. not that that is bad thing, but not intersted. Tavares either-

We’d be picking up Barmes as an experienced utility guy who can contribute. He’s better than Zobrist, and being older for that role is fine. Tavares is not wanted by me, and I can’t imagine the Rays are either.
