Rays of Light

Rays: Matt Garza (7-4, 3.51 ERA)
vs
Indians: Matt Ginter (No Record)
7:05, Progressive Field, FSN Florida

You think I’m kidding? I’m not going to post again until the Rays play like a big league team. They don’t even need to win. They just need to play well.

I understand completely Scott. However, we are still 1.5 games ahead of Boston. We need to remember that it’s a marathon season, and this is just a little blip in the season.

Scott – I’m with you. Kaz is totally right…they stopped worrying about the game at hand and became engrossed with the standings…quickest way to tank. Play every pitch, every at bat. They could learn from Fresno State’s approach….

  3. BillG Says:

Play the subs…the regulars are clueless.

Time for someone, Joe, Cliff, someone…to talk to the team. Supposedly Joe told them already to stop trying so hard and to have fun. Someone needs to tell them to stop trying to lead the division and to focus 100% game by game. This is where a rookie team is weak…they get enthralled with the SI covers, the interviews, the Home Run Derby invite, etc…and lose focus. Well, NY has been winning and Boston will be there to the end….

Certainly doesn’t look big league tonight :(

  6. Michael Says:

Agreed, its like im watching the team from years ago.
I tried watching my first game in a few days, I had to shut it off.

Come on guys don’t get so critical, rembember at the beginning of the year our goal and all everyone talked about is just finishing over 500 this year and 2009 was going to be the year. Well what’s changed. Nothing they are playing over 500. Remember what we all said. I am said about the last 6 games but we are still in first, still over 500 and they are still on the way of obtaining the goal we all set the beginning of the season. I think the sucess has spoiled us and we all have increased our expectations. Hey I am as guilty of doing that as the next guy but I have never lost sight of the over 500 goal. Hang in there guys. Scott you were posting when we were a lot worse than we our now. Take a look at the second half of last years season. We all know this team can hit better that they are hitting now. All you guys ready to hop off the band wagon just sit back down and take a couple more laps around the league and then if you not happy go a head and hop off but please don’t come back next year and expect us to let you sit in the middle of the wagon.

Richard – it is not as if they are underperforming … they are not performing. A wake-up to the team needs to be transmitted via the blogs…we are all Rays fans and have been through the darkest times…but this team is hard to watch during this slump. Please play replays of the Fresno State run to the CWS championship…maybe it will inspire a couple of Rays.

DFA or trade Glober and Gomer.

  9. BillG Says:

Congrats to Hinske and Pena for getting some hits.

I don’t understand? What I don’t understand is my emotions are in such bad shape. I throw a pillow at the TV, the remote on the floor and yell at players on the TV, like they can hear me. I have been a fan of baseball both as a spectator and player all my life and my kids are older than Floyd. My wife tells me it only a game and there is nothing we can do to change it and I know she is correct. NOW I have that out of my system let’s take a look at the damage. Not bad if you can tell yourself that if we had said that at the break we would be in first, and we would be overjoyed even to be in second with a 55 & 38 record. So lets look at damage control. If we win tonight we come out of the break in 1st place and the best team in the AL. Sounds great doesn’t it? We just have to put the losses behind us and go forth and give this team some credit for the accomplishments they have had this year. Now I leave you with, if they don’t win tonight, I’m going to hit them with my pillow and throw the remote at them. TAKE THAT
