Nice to see the power part of the order come through tonight. Need to
to suspend Carl couple times a year. Longo being Longo. How great is he going to be? Can’t figure Kaz out. God this team is exciting.

You got it Rich. Now we need our fans to get hot and come to the Trop because they can be big contributors this next serious against Boston.
June 28th, 2008 at 8:25 am
You know the fans will come. The big crowds are where baseball has been around for many many years and they have built up generations of fans. It will happen hear. This season is just the start and now the Rays have begun to look like a real team crowds will steadily increase. Rome wasn’t built in a day. It takes a while to overcome negativity and we had 10 years of that. Takes time to change an image.

Rays are 500 on the road and it’s almost half way point in the season. Another win in Pits tonight and above 500. Has that ever happened before this late in the season. Man it’s nice to route for a winner. JUst listened to some idiot on 620 knocking the trop calling it the pits. Wish I could talk would love to call and nail those idiots who have never been there to watch a game. This was some host in California. Guess he’s never been to Wrigley or Fenway. Now those are the pits.

It was reported that the Rays are deeply immersed in talks for Cleveland ace C.C. Sabathia, are seriously interested in Rockies closer Brian Fuentes and are stalking right-handed hitting outfielders Matt Holliday & Jason Bay, *Xavier Nady and a half-dozen others.
* “My pick would be Xavier Nady” and get rid of Gomes, I think they have a better chance to get Xavier Nady if they don’t fool around and miss the open window. He would be in the budget now and in the future. A good fit in RF and still have some left for pitching help.
What do the rest of you think on this?

Question: how much is left on the contracts of Nady and Bay? This is a key driver in any deal. We do not want a rental player here, but someone for the next two to three years. Both are 30 years old, but Bay is a much more potent hitter. Either would be acceptional with Bay bringing a higher price but bigger bat and and Nady bringing good defense and a solid bat…but at a lower package cost. Nady seems to be a good clutch hitter too, according to his reputation. Bay’s bat would be very valuable…can you see him in the following line-up?
- Upton
- Crawford
- Longoria
- Bay
- Pena
- Hinske/Floyd
- Navarro
- Akimura
- Bartlett

I am predicting an 0-4 with 3 K’s for Gomer today. He will try too hard in trying to dig himself out of the hitter’s doghouse.
June 29th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
For as much grief as Sonny gets from bloggers, I hope he make it to 9-3 today!!!!
June 29th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Gomer had a great at bat last nite. Was just swinging the bat and not trying to crush the ball. Might have learned something. You guys that want to get rid of him better opt for him going 3 for 4 today. I am. If they going to run Navarro today hope he takes the snow shoes off.

Well, Gomer only went 0-3 with one K. Sonny was good and is now a team-leading 9-3! The Rays are in the division lead by .003, at least until the end of the Red Sox game. Good job, Rays!!!

Thank you, Astros!!! Rays now sit, undisputed, on top of the AL East. Who would have thunk it back in April??? Congrats Joe and team! You have all earned it.

.698 at home, .500 on the road first half of season, not much more you can ask for. After all these years it’s really kind of hard to believe. Every other year we’d be talking about draft choices, now I am budgeting to to make sure I’ve got play off tickets money. God don’t know body wake me up.

A 5 – 1 road trip. Wow. Seems like just yesterday it was 1 – 5 for a road trip. Can the Rays sweep the BoSox at the trop again? It’s nice to see all the Rays hats and shirts out on the town this week!

STUN the Sox!

OK guys this is SHOW UP TIME. We need fans to show up for this serious. Let’s all go the extra mile and fill the house with Rays fans. Bring the bells, signs, horns and your support to this TEAM. They are now in first again and playing the most important 3 games ever in their history. You can make a difference.

@ Richard, Gomes is an emotional roller coaster ride for me. Love/Hate relationship, and as for Navarro his problem is not throwing runners out, it is his refusal to remove the mask on a past or wild ball that he cant see and his lack of hustle to go get it when he finally see’s it. He also catches the low pitches with the glove in the wrong position and hardly never goes to his knees to block a ball in the dirt. Now all that said, when he is hitting he sometimes make me forget all the bad things. I guess he is still young.

We’re beginning to nitpick too much on Navi. If he were hitting .220, it would be another story. But the guy is hitting.325 or so, and calling a good game for the pitchers, and now we want to see him throw out more baserunners. The guy is 24 years old, and playing at a very high level right now. Get off his back and enjoy what we’re seeing right now. I’ll be at the game tonight, up in the beach, and decked out in my Rays gear. Oneof my good friends is a Red Sox fan, but he will be getting an earful from me the entire night. I see us taking 2 out of 3 this series, and really making a statement to the rest of the leaue that we are truly for real. I’ll be at Ferg’s before the game, and can’t wait to see all the Rays fans there. Hopefully, there won’t be too many Red Sox fans there. The place should be absolutely packed tonight. See you there if you go!

I’ll be there tonight, tommorrow and Wednesday. All Navi has to do is block the low balls and he’ll be Ok. I told you all he was a lazy catcher long time ago. He is swinging a good stick. I’d love to see a sweep. All our big arms are on the mound. Just hope the big guns can go off in this series. Be a great series for Pena to really come alive. Hey see and hope hear all you guys tonight. Starting the second half battling to hold on to 1st, can’t ask for anymore than that.

We have a bunch of signs for tonight. My wife who is always upset with the Umpires has made an EYE CHART for Ump’s. Funny! Look for it above the Rays dugout in the uppers by the i in Pepsi. Let’s all be there. Tickets still available.
