Rays of Light

Per Marc Lancaster

The Rays have placed Gary Glover on the 15-day DL with right shoulder tendinitis, a move that’s retroactive to April 26. Al Reyes, however, is not ready to be activated off the DL and remains in limbo. That means Kurt Birkins sticks around for at least a few more days, and with B.J. Upton down at least for today after straining his left shoulder yesterday, the Rays called Justin Ruggiano back up to provide outfield depth.

If Al Reyes DOESN’T come back, then the Rays can simply take Jason Hammel and put him in the bullpen while sending Kirt Birkins back to Durham. It makes the decision a little bit easier.

Ruggiano’s stay will probably be only as long as the Rays can afford to carry an extra position player – maybe only until Reyes is ready to return. Don’t expect him to be here too long.

Maybe they will give Ruggi his shot now…. wait for it…………………………………………………………………..wait for it…………………………….
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, that would make too much sense…

Also, just curious as to why Al Reyes wouldn’t come back??? you mean a trade or something, everything I have seen says he is about a week away-

They were waiting to see how he felt after his latest rehab appearance. Apparently he still isn’t feeling quite right.

During the game yesterday they said that they don’t want to bring him back until he feels like he can pitch on back-to-back days, which was questionable. I guess that question was answered for the short-term.
