Rays of Light

So, as a follow-up to yesterday, I picked up MLB 08: The Show for PSP – great game, by the way – and have been treated to 2007 flashbacks in each of the three games I’ve played so far.

Game 1: Rays vs White Sox – Scott Kazmir goes 5 2/3 solid innings with 11 Ks (with WAY too many pitches) before finally giving way to the bullpen. Rays up 4-3 in the 7th before Dan Wheeler, Gary Glover, Trever Miller, and Al Reyes combine to allow 7 runs. We end up losing 11-4.

Game 2: Rays at Red Sox – James Shields is God-like for 7 innings, an a 2-RBI single by Evan Longoria has tied the game at 2-2. In the bottom of the 8th, Al Reyes gives up a 3-run home run to Sean Casey and the Rays lose 5-2.

Game 3:  Rays vs Rockies – We absolutely tattoo Ubaldo Jimenez and open up a 6-1 lead by the third inning. Matt Garza cruises along for 7, and by the time he exits, we’re up 9-2. Grant Balfour comes in, and I’m forced to go to Troy Percival in the 9th inning before holding on for a 9-7 win.

Let’s hope this ISN’T a sign of things to come…

Boo. video game analysis. This is the second rays blogsite to try this out. Its like when someone talks to you about the dream you had the other night, you just zone out, its unimportant and apllies to you in no way.

    Hey Scott,

How did you get Longoria on your game? Do they have an updated roster file out yet?
I just got the Show for PS3 and I am having an connection to the internet issue that I am working on…

As a side note, My first game (I play on all star setting)Matt Garza went 6.1 inning of no hit ball vs. the SF Giants, but CC, Baldelli, and Navarro all omered to lift the Rays to a 6-4 victory… tho the Giants did get the tying run to 2nd, Percival got Rajai davis to fly out to right to end it… much fin was had by all =)-I know videop games aren’t the thing around her all the time, but that dude should pound sand for being jerk-like…

PS, Anytime the Rays beat the Phils it’s special to me, living up here in PA…

    Go Rays!

I created him through the create-a-player; I gave him what I think are pretty legit ratings; it makes him like the 6th or 7th-rated player on the team, similar to Rocco Baldelli’s batting stats.

  9. Sean Says:

The show doesn’t have minor league players?

In MLB 2k series they usually have an equal player in the minors with a similar name.

3b Eric Lincoln same gae and all that
    ss Robert Brinkly same stuff

And last year to start the year the Rays had a japanese 3rd basemen named Adam Ibarra.

  10. Scott Caruso Says:

At least for the Rays they didn’t do it like that in The Show. I haven’t checked any other teams to see if they have representative minor leagues.

  11. Sean Says:

I went and got MLb 2K8 last night and they had Longoria (with the fake name) and then me and my buddy went throught all the minor leagues and looked at players. We did it quickly but the only two main people I think we were missing were a fake Desmond Jennings and Fernando Perez.

All of the pitchers I could think of were on there and so was John Jaso. It is going to be fun renaming all of them.
