Rays of Light

Do any of you guys play baseball video games? I like to think of myself as a big gamer, and I pick up quite a few baseball games in my travels, so in many ways I’m a connoisseur.

I’m planning on going to pick up MLB 08: The Show for PSP later on today – I find “The Show” series to be better than the 2k series. I’ve also played a heck of a lot of “MLB Power Pros” for the Wii, which is a damn fine game. MVP Baseball got really good towards the end before they had to take on the NCAA license instead of the MLB license. Even Mario Superstar Baseball on the GameCube is a fun game if you take it as an arcade game first and baseball game second.

I’ve also spent plenty of time on a computer game called Out of the Park Baseball, which is a text-based management sim. That one’s real cool if you’re a stat geek and really want to dig in as the GM of a team.

And of course, there are those games that stand the test of time. Earl Weaver Baseball, Tony LaRussa Baseball, Baseball Stars, RBI Baseball, Baseball Simulator 1.000 – I’ve played them all. Baseball Stars was probably my favorite, though.

Are there any games that you all play? What are some of your favorites?

I picked up MLB The Show 08 yesterday and I am liking it. Happy to see the Rays new uniforms in the game and all the newly acquired players on the roster. Although their are a few guys missing, it is still a very complete game with great gameplay, graphics and updated rosters.

Tony Larussa II was stinking addicting. It’s where I first learned of Blue moon Odom.

I was also a big fan of Griffey on Super Nintendo

  5. Joe Aiello Says:

Oh and watch out for the guy name Paste in RBI Baseball on Nintendo. I think that was the game he was on.

  6. Joe Aiello Says:

Oh, Little League Championship Series on Nintendo was great too. Alright, I’m done now.

    Base Wars

Basewars was gay. I hate it. I love me some Baseball Stars though. I had my team maxed out. I always tried to win the LLCS with Italy. Their power triangle was terrible.

MVP Baseball 2005. Manny’s on the cover, I know but it’s still a great game I play every week. Good dynasty mode.

  11. Scott Caruso Says:

Agreed Paul.. MVP05 was great. Of course, I am a little biased towards that company. :)
