This isn’t homepage worthy, so I figured I would pose the question via the diaries section. With the pending deal of Santana to the Mets and not the Yankees or Red Sox, does this make you breath a sigh or relief or were you not really worried either way?

I wasn’t particular worried either way. The Rays (just from memory) have faired very well against Johan. I could be wrong but all the games I remember about Johan we won or were close for the entire game.
Like I said I could be way off but that is what I remember

Santana has an ERA of 2.79 in 11 starts versus the Rays in his career.
11.2 K’s/9
2.8 BB/9
4.0 K/BB
3-2 Record

ok well I was way off…Does that compare to his career numbers? I don’t know why I thought that. Maybe the last few games we did better against him than normal and I got excited.

Unless he’s on your team, the further Santana is from your division the better.

I love the idea of the Twins getting weaker by losing Santana and getting so-so prospects for him, the Sox and Yanks not getting stronger by getting Santana, the Orioles (division foe obviously) giving up stud Bedard and not having really any pitching to back that up either. Our division is gettin weaker, we are getting stronger, and the best pitcher in the game in the National League. Could not have gone much better, unless Bedard ends up in the NL also…
