Baseball America released its Top 10 prospect list today. As of right now, they are still behind the subscription site, but here are the names:
1 - Evan Longoria
2 - David Price
3 - Jake McGee
4 - Wade Davis
5 - Reid Brignac
6 - Desmond Jennings
7 - Jeff Niemann
8 - Jeremy Hellickson
9 - Ryan Royster
10 - Chris Mason
Not a bad collection of names, eh? You’ll see our list coming up soon, but I don’t suspect it’ll look much different from this one.
In other news yesterday, the Rays announced they won’t try to get state aid in order to fund the new waterfront ballpark. (MLB.com)
I’m curious where this typically cash-strapped franchise is going to come up with over $400 million for a stadium, but that’s for people smarter than me to figure out.

I like the list and have no real objections. I am excited to see more of what Jennings can do.

I am more interested in the tools section. Ballew listed Brignac as our “best defensive infielder” while also saying that Fernando Perez is faster than Desmond Jennings. I have those plus several other questions in que, so hopefully I can get some response from these selections.

I am not a subscriber to BA, Eric, so I hope you can at least summarize his answers to you. I noticed the Brignac comment as well and wonder whether it results from comparison to generally poor defensive infielders in the system or to Brignac’s improvement so that he is now a plus defender. If the latter, that is very exciting.

No problem Bob. On my website I’ll do a look at Ballew’s chat, and hit the high points of any questions I get answered. I have kind of a running diary going for this list, so keep checking back as I add more stuff.
