Elizabeth Pearson stumbled upon VFTB around 2006, and enjoys encouraging conversation among the wide variety of readers brought together by their love of the Cubs. She’s married, has a Cub-loving pug named Phinneaus, and enjoys biking, hiking, cooking and gardening. She calls Chesterton, Indiana home and hopes to one day retire on Mackinac Island. • Buddy

    1. Seinfeld 2. Cheers 3. WKRP

  • Doc Raker

    Alec Berg is smiling.

  • Doc Raker

    1) Mary Tyler Moore Show- the Lou Grant Ted Baxter dynamic is just to good. 2) Cheers, original cast with Coach and Diane – I don’t have much use for Woody Harrelson 3) Alf- that alien is smarter than most of you, you think Alf would buy into Seymour’s global warming scam, not a chance.

Honorable mention- It is not a sitcom but The Rockford Files was great comedy and the best detective show ever, ‘ain’t that right Rockfish?’

  • BLPCB_NAO

    1. Everybody Loves Raymond
    2. My Wife and Kids
    3. Malcolm in the Middle

Seinfeld, Parks and Rec, and New Girl.

  • Cap’n Obvious

    1. Coach-Jerry van Dyke as Luther was awesome
    2. Everybody Loves Raymond-his parents were hilarious
    3. Friends-mostly due to consistency and staying power

Currently, Modern Family and Whitney are my faves. Mike and Molly gets credit for The character Vince, who is the most authentic Chicago character I’ve ever seen.

Did you ever see that episode of Everyone Loves Raymond where Raymond’s wife chewed him out and his brother said something stupid? Classic.

  • BLPCB_NAO

That was pretty much every episode

  • Doug S.

    Fawlty Towers
Phil Silvers Show (Original Sgt Bilko)
    Hogans Heroes

    1. The Big Bang Theory
    2. Curb Your Enthusiasm
Tie for 3. Everybody Loves Raymond and early Seinfeld. I didn’t care for Seinfeld near the end.

    Mad About You
    The Dick Van Dyke Show
Whose Line Is It Anyway?-not a sitcom-not sure what category it would fall into-
it was a different type of show than any other I have known.
It started in 1988 in England-then later came to the US(didn’t care much for Drew Carey as the new host, but the performers were fabulous!)
Honorable mention- The Dean Martin Roasts

  • gymjok

Schultz take him to the cooler!

  • gymjok

You should check out Jerry Van Dyke in the 2 or 3 episodes he was on The Dick Van Dyke Show- very funny.

  • gymjok

    Hey no problem.
I enjoyed watching James Garner in Maverick-a series he was in before The Rockford Files.

  • gymjok

    No soup for you.
    NORM!
    Hey big guy.

Tip the wait staff.. I’ll be here all week.

  • Seymour Butts

    South Park,The Simpsons, WKRP
But there are at least 20 I could sit and watch for hours on netflix without complaining.
What’s with the comment format going in reverse chronological order? I don’t think I like it as well as chronologically.

Seymour you can change that however you like it. Click on “Discussion” underneath the commenting box and choose Oldest.

  • BLPCB_NAO

I didn’t include the Simpsons because I don’t consider them a sitcom, but I am going to change my list

  • Joe Aiello

    No order on mine:

    Modern Family
    Cosby Show
    The Office

  • Doc Raker

Phil Silvers, awesome, he was great, always hustling everybody.
    “I see nothing’- Sgt Schultz

  • verncrowe5

    1. The Office
    2. Parks & Recreation
    3. Modern Family

  • Seymour butts

    Thanks! That worked.
Now if only I didn’t have to retype my name and email each time, we could be back the way it was a few weeks ago. Progress sucks.
