The Cubs Media Department sent a few notes this morning.
- Sean Marshall has agreed to terms, which avoids having to go to arbitration hearing to decide on a salary. No terms were given, so we’ll have to monitor that.
- Chad Tracy has agreed to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training. You can’t really go wrong with minor league deals, especially when they’re for an area we need all the hope we can get, the IF. Hopefully he provides some depth.

Glad to see Hendry worked things out with Marshall. I’ve always liked Sean and hope he wins a spot in the rotation this season. It’s still looking Theriot could go to an arbitration hearing. That would be interesting to say the least.
And the Tracy thing is indeed good news. Give Hendry some credit for really bulking up the team’s depth yesterday. I’m still not sure how both Nady and Tracy can fit on the bench at this point. There appeared to be only one bench spot open (and Hoffpauir is more than likely out of the picture entirely at this point). But there’s still plenty of time for things to shake out.
Good call on the Hoff, daver. I’m not sure how he fits into the new equation either. Until Sori’s hammy gives up or Nady’s arm falls off at the elbow…
I saw Sean Marshall in the training room in Mesa about an hour ago. He looked beefier than last year. I hope he gets a good shot this spring.
Seymour, are you doing the Sherm thing and hanging around the showers this year? It’s a leeeeetle creepy my man.
The least you could do is send us some pictures, Sey. Heh.
