Question of the Week

Joe and I must have both had the same flavor of pop tarts for breakfast this morning because he posted the question that I was going to ask. You know, the one about whether you like it better this way or would prefer going down to the wire but still not getting into the playoffs. So instead, I’ll ask that you chime in with your favorite flavor of pop tarts! Brown Sugar Cinnamon for me, and now they have a “high fiber” variety. We’re not as young as we used to be you know!

Have a great weekend everyone. Should be interesting here in Chesterton, Indiana … Wizard of Oz Festival this weekend in case anyone likes to follow the Yellow Brick Road. 🙂

Lizzies

  • My mom had Cadillacs in both eyes, vision at about 20/100, after Cadillac surgery she was 20/20.
  • I’m 100% sure this entire conversation is totally stupid.
  • Paul Sullivan couldn’t hold my “mailbag”, but thanks for thinking of me.
  • I’ll bet Sullivan drives a Cadillac.
  • Rule number one: Don’t alienate your readers.
  • Let’s see, to know your team sucks before they break your heart down the stretch or in the playoffs vs going deep into the race or playoffs. Kinda like, is it better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.

I would much rather have a team that contends, plays good baseball and goes deep into the playoffs. 2003 was much better than 2009 eventhough the last game was a punch in the gut.

Playing out meaningless games as the likes of the Cardinals get ready for post season blows.

  • The key is in, as Doc says, a team that plays good baseball. This team is so bad in so many phases. The offense gets 2 in the 1st — one more than I predicted they would get off old Smoltz) but then takes the rest of the night off. Our backup 2B playing LF every day (for his defense?) hurt us turning a double into a sortof triple. Our SS got picked off looking like a weak high school soph. Our relievers give up more walkoff HR than anybody. Aaron Miles actually does something right in a ballgame, getting down a bunt, and no one can move him across the plate.
We did play good baseball for six months last season. We absolutely stopped it in time for a weak Dodger to make us look terrible and we have not recovered from that.
Here in Chicago we have hopes the Bears will come back from the mess they started last week. And the Blackhawks have a game tomorrow. It will help us wait till next year. Or wait till 2015 when the bad contracts are up.

  • The Cubs will break the routine in 2015!

I prefer to contend to the end.

This season has sucked. I have been unable to care for the first time ever. Win? So. Lose? So.

    Makes no difference.

I was always one of those who hangs on to any slim thread of hope. But all the threads were cut when Milton threw that ball in the stands. It ticks me off.

I sure hope I will be able to care next year.

  • Terrelle Pryor 2

I haven’t watched any baseball since football returned. It was an agonizingly long wait for football to return. Maybe 2 weeks of school before football had something to do with it. Or maybe because the Cubs sure have sucked this year. They’ve just plain sucked. I’ve seen teams suck before, but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

  • MJ

You’re right. They’ll most likely end up with their third winning record in a row, which hasn’t been done in decades. But this year totally sucked.

  • Terrelle Pryor 2

It’s a reference from the Simpsons god dam it!

  • Seymour Butts

    Definitely Brown sugar cinnamon.

  • Doc Raker

Regardless of their record, the least enjoyable Cub team of my lifetime. And I remember Jerry Morales and George Mitterwald.

  • MJ

Really? You enjoyed 2004 and 2005? Heck, even the early 90’s teams? Blah.
