In other news around the league Reed Johnson has reagravated his back injury, I’m thinking a DL stint would work in order to get a live bat on the bench. Luis Vizcaino has been designated for assignment by the Indians and it looks like Magglio Ordonez will possibly get the nod tonight against the Cubs; he’s been in Jim Leyland’s doghouse recently.

  • Rick Beato

We do have more than our share of brittle ballplayers, it seems.

  • MJ

Johnson’s injury was known about on Sunday. They said he’s day to day. Seeing that the Cubs we’ll face nothing but right handed pitching, he wouldn’t have played much anyway.

  • cubbiedude

I’m really surprised that so many want to dump Kosuke and so few want to dump Milton.

  • sherm

We got shut out yesterday. Fire Von Joshua!

Okay, maybe that was a tad premature. Sorry.

  • Mastrick

Johnson’s injury was known about Sunday but he reinjured it on Monday according to Rotoworld.

  • Where is the Aaron Miles contract in the poll? This poll just decides what OTHER contracts I would dump along with Miles’.

  • Why couldn’t we vote for more than one?

We gave AA a contract? I just thought he won the Fantasy Camp raffle and got to play with the Cubs for the first half of the season.

  • I vote Soriano. Because he looks like he’d rather be anywhere but where he is. No hustle. No interest. And he’s signed for FIVE more seasons after this one??!!??

I just hope that at the end of the season he’ll be hitting like crazy and carrying the team and we’ll all have forgotten the dismal first half(?) of the season.

I voted Soriano as well and at the time I voted (earlier this afternoon) it was 80% for Soriano and 20% for Kosuke and 0 for everyone else. Seems it’s more or less stayed that way.

  • cubbiedude

Oh yes, I voted Alfonso off the island, too.

  • cubbiedude

Let me correct myself: I voted Alfonso’s “contract” off the island. Can I, in the emotion of the moment, also vote Kevin Gregg’s contract off the island? Geez, Louise! A 220 hitter, 0-4 as a pinch hitter this season? Oh my.

  • Lizzie

Was just going to ask Joe to add a write in category so I could vote for Gregg.

  • How about none of the above? Why would the Cubs drop a player making so much money, when they would still have to pay them?

  • Why would the Cubs drop a player making so much money, when they would still have to pay them?

Perhaps that’s why the question mentions that there are “no repercussions financially”

  • Perhaps that’s why the question mentions that there are “no repercussions financially”

Sure… but it just doesn’t work like that.

Of course, even with “no repercussions financially,” I still wouldn’t cut any of them, as the Cubs don’t have better options to take any of their places.

Listening to the Tiger Radio broadcast last night they were lamenting about Soriano’s age and how many more years he has on his contract, they bristled at the thought.

I love listening to the opposing broadcasts, they are always honest about your club, much more so than our broadcasters. Last year the opposing broadcasters always spoke so highly of the Cubs and their offense, not this year.

Anyone who has Direct TV or XM Radio should tune into the opposing broadcast whenever possible. You will start to see how average Len and Bob are. I still rank Pat and Ron as one of the best if not for pure entertainment as for anything else.

    Interesting…

I actually really like Len and Bob, but can’t stand Pat and Ron. Pat is actually decent, but Ron is just plain awful at this point. For me it isn’t really even entertaining. It is painful to listen to at times.

  • MJ

I like Len and Bob too. I think they’re finally getting into a good working groove. I loev Pat and Ron, but Ron’s getting a bit to homerish for my tastes. And that new guy that fills in for the mystery Pat inning off…..good lord is he bad.

I love wathing the MLB Network, when they cut into games and you get to hear other broadcast teams. There’s a few teams I would not be remotely interested in because of that very issue. Kind of like the White Sox, I can’t even watch those games because of Hawk. And that’s the only reason. If they dumped Hawk, they’d probably get more of a fan base just because you’d get more casual fans that would actually hear something that sounded intellignet.

  • And that new guy that fills in for the mystery Pat inning off…..good lord is he bad.

Yes… completely agree. He is AWFUL.

  • Seymour Butts

As long as we are being honest about our broadcasters, I did not like Harry. I felt he was embarrassing and that Stone felt that way to , as evidenced by his long silences after Harry said something dumb.
Ron is an awful homer, but I know him and like him, so I can’t be objective.

  • Lizzie

I’ve often wondered what Len and Bob really think. They have to be favorable, for the most part, and even when they criticize they even do that in a favorable way. But they have insight that not too many people have, and I’d love to be able to hear their true opinions every once in awhile.
