Sample Size Alert!!!
Sure... but I never said that because he HAS been good in the clutch, that he IS good in these situations, and will continue to be good in these situations.

Sherm said that he hasn't. And I pointed out that this simply isn't true.

"Sample size alerts" are relevant if someone is trying to take a player's performance in a small sample size and infer that the player will always perform that way.

For example, many on here wanted to cut/bench/trade Derrek Lee based off of a bad month, saying that he was done because he had a bad 100 at-bats.

What would be better would be to say that Derrek Lee was really bad for the first month, but that probably isn't indicative of future success.

In “high leverage” situations, he has put up a line of:.324/.395/.471 OPS: .865, which has also been very productive.

WTF?
Anything clutch. He may be a good hitter. Perhaps not a clutch hitter.
This is absurd.

Here are Milton Bradley's "clutch" stats (i.e. with RISP):

.242/.405/.515 OPS: .920

He has been one of the Cubs most productive players with runners in scoring position.

Allow me to pretend to be Dave

I’m sorry, but losing track of outs, getting thrown out at third on a truly horrible baserunning decision, etc…makes me believe he’s a baseball moron.

No excuse for those mistakes. However that was one game. We all have games where our heads are somewhere else. At least, I know I have.

As a present to him, I will agree with his stance that although Bradley has been hitting, it hasn’t really been making a huge difference in the Cubs offensive output.

He had timely hitting in the Cleveland series, which started or were a part of a couple of the rallies. Not saying that doing it against Cleveland is all that impressive, but you ahve to start somewhere, right?

I have not seen as many games recently as I would have liked, I have been busy mananaging a little league team into the district championship. It’s not from my perceptions from May, it has been my perception for many years now that I don’t like him as a baseball player and as a person also.

First congrats! As an ump for our local Little League, I applaud anyone that puts time into such endeavors. It's quite a chore! Second, Bradley has always shown he can hit. It was why Hendry brought him here. He's hitting now, and still no one is happy.....I guess it's the mantra for this season. 2 1/2 games out, and no one is happy.

I think our fantasy camp team could light up the Cleveland bullpen. Just sayin’

I know some Men's Senior League teams that could do the same. Heck, there's probably a softball team or two, as well.

And Happy Birthday!

Sometimes I wonder if some of you actually watch the games, or if you stopped weeks ago, and still go off your perceptions from May.

I have not seen as many games recently as I would have liked, I have been busy mananaging a little league team into the district championship. It's not from my perceptions from May, it has been my perception for many years now that I don't like him as a baseball player and as a person also. I never wanted him signed, because of all his past negative behavior my perception was formed. I think he is a detriment to the team even if he hits .300 because he does so many other stupid things. Any playing time he gets is playing time a young worthy prospect like Fox or Hoffa doesn't get and I would rather see what they have then what Meltdown has since I already have seen his act.

Meltdown may hit .400 but he will still be poor baseball player and a head case.

Here is my question for the near future, did our bats break out or did we run into a pretty poor Cleveland bullpen?

My birthday is of no bearing to this date. On this day in Cub history we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the "Sandberg Game."

58? No. I've been 50 for less than 11 hours. So far, so good, but I am achy in spots. And...forgot what I was going to say. Oh, yeah, no wait, forgot again. Damn. Something about memory, I think.
