I don’t get it. How is it that the offense can look so in sync one game, pouding out hit after hit to start the game en route to a 7-1 win only to look completely inept the next night, only mustering 1 run?
Take a look at something encouraging, yet dissappointing:
June 2nd – 7 IP (1 Earned Run)
June 3rd – 7 IP (1 Earned Run)
June 5th
– 6.2 IP (0 Earned Runs)
June 6th
– 6 IP (0 Earned Runs)
June 7th – 6.2 IP (2 Earned Runs)
June 9th The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe the movie – 6.2 IP (0 Earned Runs)
June 10th - 8 IP (1 Earned Run)
That’s the result so far on this road trip turned in by our starting pitchers. Instead of the 7-0 record we should have a shot at on this trip, we’re stuck with a mediocre 4-3 showing. I use the word mediocre because that’s exactly what this team is and will continue to be unless something changes and changes soon. Say all you want about how we’re hanging in with the Brewers and just waiting to make a move. The fact remains that we’re mediocre, and the ultimate goal is to win the World Series.
At the beginning of the season I was excited about seeing this team hit on offense because of the addition of the Milkman. The lineup looked scary good on paper coming off a banner year at the plate last year. Now I dread seeing the lineup each night because no matter how Lou aligns it, it sucks. I’m tired of seeing the mediocrity waste the fact that our rotation leads the Majors in quality starts with 35 and ERA with a 3.65 showing.
Ryan Dempster goes today and will probably continue the line of quality starting pitching. Even the pen has been serviceable lately. Assuming that happens today, I swear to you, we better leave this road trip with 5 wins.
High A Daytona 2, Jupiter 0
Rafael Dolis tossed five scoreless innings on five hits and three strikeouts as Daytona blanked the Jupiter Hammerheads, 2-0, on Wednesday. David Cales pitched a perfect ninth and picked up his seventh save for the Cubs, who notched a series split.
Player of the Game: Dolis missed all of last year, though I’m not sure why, he now has allowed one earned run or fewer in six of seven starts.
Worth Noting: Nate Samson went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Low A – Peoria 3 The Flyboys dvdrip Brutal full
, Clinton 5
The Peoria Chiefs allowed two runs in the seventh and lost their fourth straight game with a 5-3 loss against the Clinton LumberKings on Wednesday night. The loss drops the Chiefs to fourth place in the Western Division and four games out of the wild card race with 12 games left to play.
Player of the Game: Arranged buy Rebel Ridling continues to hit the ball with authority for the Chiefs. Remember he was a guy Ryan Flaherty mentioned to keep an eye out for. yesterday he went 2-for-4 with a pair of HR and 3 RBI.
Worth Noting:
The Chiefs match their season-worst losing streak at four. They also lost four in a row at Wisconsin April 22-24

I meant to post this the other day, and Dempster’s start reminded me. If you haven’t seen this article, it is worth a read.

Add to the list: 7 IP (1 Earned Run)
That’s eight in a row. When’s the last time the Cubs had that kind of starting pitching eight games in a row?
