I got to face Kevin once in the CNMSBL. I'm glad I never did again. His brother is no slouch either.

Rest in Piece, Kev. You were a bright spot on some really bad Cubs teams.

I don't think it is Bruce Sutter. If you look <a href="http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=bruce%20sutter%20autograph&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi" rel="nofollow">here</a>, you will see that Sutter's autograph doesn't look like the one on the ball

Could it have been from a visiting team? I widened the search to all Brian S.'s but really even the closest matches (Brian Snyder, Brian Shepherd) are still a stretch unless the guy really mangles some of his letters.

If the Assenmacher sign was acquired while he was a Cub, the other could be a minor leaguer. First name looks like Brian, second name looks almost like Schaefer, but when Assenmacher was a Cub there were no Brians or Bruces on the major league squad and I couldn't hazard a guess on any minor leaguers they had at the time.

joe, the comments on the baseball signature post aren't working. My guess on the signature is Bruce Sutter.

I looked at baseball reference at all the teammates Assenmacher had, and Sutter's name is really the only one that remotely looks like that signature.

Sad to hear about Foster.

Man, that kid is a monster on the field. Boy amongst toddlers.

Hey!!! Jose and I can agree on something!

I too liked Foster a lot. I always thought he had the talent to end up a good pitcher, but it ever worked out for him.

I remember Foster and he too was one of the most liekable Cubs when he came up. A true loss. I wish the all the best to his family. God Bless. If anyone is playing to do something for his family, let me know I would like to contribute.

Regarding the video, does this kid bat LF and can he play RF/CF?
