Scouting Report on todays starters from
Braden Looper – Looper’s coming off a strange start where he get very few groundouts but still pitched deep into the game and got a win. He won’t be able to pull that often, though. The right-hander needs to get the ball on the ground to be effective. He’s turned in two excellent starts against the Cubs this year, which is definitely encouraging going into a critical four-game series.

Rich Hill – Hill pitched well through his first five innings in Colorado on Saturday, limiting the Rockies to two runs on six hits. But he became rattled in the sixth, loaded the bases and yielded a grand slam to Jamey Carroll — only his second homer of the season. Hill said he executed well but just made the one mistake to Carroll.

What To Watch For – It’s incredibly important for the Cubs to get off on the right foot and knock the Cardinals off their pedestal right now. They think they’re in the race and it’s time to end those thoughts.
