Scouting Report on todays starters from MLB.com
Yovani Gallardo – Gallardo tossed another gem in his second Major League start, holding the Royals to a lone run on five hits and two walks in seven innings. The right-hander struck out eight and left the game with a 2-1 lead, but the Brewers bullpen blew the save to deny him his second win. Gallardo will take the mound in place of Dave Bush, who was bumped to Sunday so Gallardo could stay on regular rest. Gallardo likely will be assigned to the Brewers’ bullpen following this start.
Rich Hill – In his last outing, against the White Sox, Hill was able to regain his successful form from early in the season. The lefty gave up one run on six hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings while striking out six, but he didn’t get a decision. He was coming off his worst start of the year, a three-inning outing against San Diego. The difference? Hill was aggressive in his approach again, and able to locate his fastball better. Hill has split a pair of decisions against the Brewers, posting a 3.29 ERA in two starts.
