Good god there has actually been some activity lately. The Yankees went player crazy yesterday signing Boone, Sheffield and Gordon. Also, the fish were able to bring Castillo back. The one good thing about this is that it means there is little hope of them resigning pudge for next year. As far as second base goes for the Cubs this year, I don’t think we’ll get vidro or walker or any high priced guy. We will have Grudzielanek or maybe someone like Adam Kennedy if they feel he is an upgrade. I’m cool with this though because it means we could go after pudge or Tejada.

I have been thinking about the fact that everyone wants to bring back maddux as our 5th starter but I have to say I have rethought it and I don’t like the move. He will simply command too much money. We need to go after a guy like Ryan Dempster or someone like that and hope. The worst that could happen is they turn into shawn estes and we almost made the world series with him last year. Take a chance on someone cheap and see what they can do. We have enough solid starting pitching that we can get through it if they suck. Besides you can always swing a midseason deal.

I am leaning more towards that mindset lately. I think it is important to not mortgage the team in order to create this dream team. More often than not, it doesn’t work.

I’m sorry this post is so random and jumps from topic to topic but I am in a hurrry.
