Game 19: Marshall and smartball stop the Marlins

Written by , Posted in General

BOX SCORE – Again, another enjoyable win for Cubbie fans everywhere! Marshall threw seven innings of two-hit scoreless baseball, fanning seven batters in the process. He had his big bender spot-on, he was able to throw it for strikes at will and set the curve up beautifully with his fastball. I almost jumped out of my couch when the Cubs executed a perfect squeeze (thanks Hairston) and Michael Barrett did a great job of bunting a runner over. Hopefully Barrett didn’t hurt his left hand too bad on the headfirst slide into second, it looked like he got spiked. Look for Hank White to start at catcher tomorrow, as it is a day game after a night game. That will give Barrett a couple of days off in case there’s any pain tomorrow morning. Matt Murton snapped out of his little funk with some timely hitting and a perfect three for three.
