Brewers Pounce…Cubs Wait

Written by , Posted in General

I guess the cheese heads want to cause some stink in our division.  That little taste of first place last season has caused their general management to be aggressive this off-season to prove that they will be contenders in the NL Central.  IF you missed it yesterday, the Brewers made a big splash by trading for Christian Yelich and signing Lorenzo Cain to an $80 million dollar contract.  Cain had been fielding offers from multiple teams (maybe the Cubs?) but ultimately decided on the Brew Crew.

So here we are.  Brewers have made the moves.  The Cubs have been in discussion with Yu Darvish over the past few months with reports saying the talks have intensified to the point where something could happen by the end of the week.  Is that the only move?  Will the Cubs go after another starter such as bringing back Jake Arrieta or trading for Alex Cobb?  Do we go with Albert Almora in CF?  What about “Slim” Kyle Schwarber in LF?  Questions upon questions.  I trust in Theo with all he has done to this point.  It makes me uneasy when other teams in our division are ultra aggressive with their signs and trades.   But we have Bryce Harper to look forward to next season.  Right?  Right?
