Yu Darvish May Be Coming
It appears we’re close now. Rumors began to pick up yesterday that a team had made a five year offer to Yu Darvish. There is also chatter that the Brewers are in on this as well.
Late last night we got word that the Cubs have signed catcher, Chris Gimenez. He’s 35 years old and figures to be a guy competing for a backup role. The note to take away, and do with it what you will, is this:

I don’t know if the signing is a precursor or not, but as of last night, the Cubs are reportedly in talks with Darvish, so keep your ears to the ground.
Personally, I’d rather not have any of the big three SP on the market at five years, and if given a choice, I’d take Jake Arrieta (a known commodity) over Darvish or Alex Cobb, because signing him doesn’t result in draft pick compensation. That’s just me.
Lastly, and hat tip to Brett Taylor for the heads up on this, but in honor of Buddy’s discussion question on movies yesterday we look at David Ross reenacting Major League all by himself.
