So real…it’s unreal
It starts with an idea:
I am a big sports gamer. I believe my love of baseball was nurtured by my ability to create/recreate memories of the boys in blue in the latest video game iteration. In fact, until 2017, the only way to see the Cubs win the World Series was by winning it yourself. If you were not feeling up to the task, you could just watch this old MLB The Show commercial.
Baseball season is right around the corner, so that means MLB the Show 17 is coming out soon as well. March 28th to be exact. Not to speak on behalf of the entire community, but I am very very very excited. Which brings me to my idea.
With the Cubs finally reaching ultimate glory, I have wondered if this season they would receive a large jump in digital ratings, making them almost too good. I additionally wonder just how accurate this game is now to real life. After all, the old slogan has been “So real…it’s unreal.”
This season I am planning the following:
1.) Starting 2 franchises with the Cubs using a roster with full minors compliments of Operation Sports.
2.) First one will mimic the regular season. I will operate full roster control and keep real life injuries and trades updated. For the entire league. I will compare the performance on a monthly basis to the REAL Cubs.
3.) Second one will be my own personal Theo Epstein-esque construction that I plan to broadcast from my Twitch.TV channel. This will be a forum in which I will interact with viewers and talk my general thoughts on the team while watching me play as my favorite team. Questions come up on the screen while I play, so I can interact with viewers.
